WE BELIEVE it is important to sustain and improve high-quality health and safety-net programs. We support:
1. Ensuring that funding decisions for the health and safety-net programs are made through an equity lens.
2. Sufficient funding and annual cost-to-continue increases for service providers.
3. Improving and expanding job training; child care assistance for families and training for teachers; assistance to neighborhood organizations; services and accommodations for people with disabilities; domestic violence prevention; public health, including HIV and AIDS services, prevention and education; dental services, services for the homeless; services for tenants; alcohol and drug abuse treatment services; and medical and legal services for the poor.
4. Consumer protection; libraries; parks; and public spaces for meetings, assembly, and art.
5. Initiatives that promote clean air for the health, safety, and comfort of workers and the general public and give people with respiratory illness fair access.
6. Health care coverage that includes gender transition.
