Our Grassroots Structure

Much of the work of Progressive Dane is done by committees and task forces. Committees and work groups each focus on a specific topic or issue and meet regularly. Committees focus on organizing and party-building, while work groups focus on issue campaigns and policy development. Read more about our primary committees below.

STEERING COMMITTEE

WHAT IS IT? Formerly known as the "Coordinating Council," the Steering Committee is the highest member-elected leadership of Progressive Dane. The Steering Committee administers the day-to-day operations of the Party and oversees activities of the various committees and task forces. Additionally, the Steering Committee is responsible for setting the agenda of General Membership Meetings (GMM). Steering Committee members, in consultation with the Elections and Policy committees, crafts the vision and direction of Progressive Dane on the party's electoral and issue-based actions.

WHEN DO YOU MEET? The Steering Committee typically meets on the first Sunday of every month at 12:00pm. Meetings are open to any member of Progressive Dane.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED? Attending a Steering Committee meeting is a great way to learn more about Progressive Dane and what we do. Steering Committee members are nominated and elected at-large by the General Membership. For more information, contact pdsteering@prodane.org.

 

POLICY COMMITTEE

WHAT IS IT? The Policy Committee works with elected officials to discuss and develop legislative plans in order to achieve the policy goals of Progressive Dane's platforms. Additionally, our Policy Committee drafts platform recommendations for the General Membership.

WHEN DO YOU MEET? The Policy Committee usually meets the first Thursday of each month at 4:30 pm, but check the calendar for specific details. Meetings are open to any member of Progressive Dane.

ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

WHAT IS IT? Progressive Dane's Elections Committee recruits candidates to run for local offices, trains candidates and campaign staff, and assists in campaign operations. Additionally, the Elections Committee makes endorsement recommendations to the General Membership.

WHEN DO YOU MEET? Elections Committee meets monthly during the year and more frequently during election time.
