2025 Elections Committee Recommendations

The Elections Committee met on February 22nd and interviewed two Madison Common Council candidates and three Madison Board of Education candidates seeking Progressive Dane’s endorsement. The Committee makes the following recommendations to the General Membership for final approval at Wednesday, February 26th’s GMM meeting.

Recommendation to endorse with a $250 donation to their campaigns:

  • Madison D18: Carmella Glenn (5-0)

  • MMSD Seat 3: Martha Siravo (4-1)

Recommendation to endorse with a $50 donation to their campaigns:

  • Madison D6: Davy Mayer (5-0)

  • MMSD Seat 4: Ali Muldrow (5-0)

  • MMSD Seat 5: Nichelle Nichols (5-0)

ENDORSEMENT PROCESS

The endorsement process is as follows:

Questionnaires and Interviews

1) Both questionnaire and interview required for:

a) New candidates not previously endorsed by Progressive Dane for the office they are running for

b) Previously endorsed candidates who have a Progressive Dane member as opponent

2) Interview required, questionnaire optional (will be asked questions verbally in interview) for

a)  PD incumbents with no opponents seeking Progressive Dane’s endorsement

b)  Uncontested PD incumbents

Voting procedure - per the bylaws

2/3 vote of committee members present, abstentions count as no, including dual endorsements. Members who are up for endorsement will be asked to leave the room when their endorsement is considered and their vote will be presumed to be in favor, which will be counted in the tally.

Funding recommendations will be considered at the same time.

Report to General Membership

Endorsements are presented to the membership as a slate. Members can separate as desired. Vote tallies will be included in the report to the members. Endorsements that failed will also be reported to the membership with the vote tally.
