Take Action to Support Human Services in Upcoming Dane County Budget Meetings!

Wednesday October 22 at 5:30 PM
Health and Human Needs Committee at 5:30 PM Agenda and Registration

Email the board at county_board_recipients@danecounty.gov and show up to meetings to Register/speak in support of:

  • HHN O-1 to reverse 4% cut to human services contracted agencies

  • HHN O-2 for $900,000 funding increase to new men’s shelter

  • HHN O-3 for $600,000 overflow shelter / outreach services funding

  • HHN C-1 for $10M increase to affordable housing development fund

  • HHN C-2 for $2M for accessibility improvement loan program for supportive housing providers

HHN C-3 for $2M for a land purchase to make available for lawful camping for unsheltered folks

Last night the amendments below passed Public Protection and Judiciary Committee, but there is more work to be done. We need to keep push backing against false narratives such as this headline “Dane County sheriff warns of reduced coverage, slower service times if positions not filled.”

How does eliminating currently vacant positions do this? Keep showing up and making our collective voice heard!

  • PPJ O-2 to reduce 16 vacant deputy positions in the Sheriff’s Office to fund human services contracts (HHN O-1)

  • PPJ O-3 to reduce 7 vacant deputy positions in the Sheriff’s Office to fund the new men’s shelter (HHN O-2)

  • PPJ O-4 to reduce 5 vacant deputy positions in the Sheriff’s Office to fund overflow shelter with outreach services (HHN O-3)
